I got this guy done at Memorial Tattoo on Moreland in Atlanta, GA by Phil Colvin.
It was a present to myself for my 20th birthday. He’s the Native American chief from the Tootsie Pop wrappers and he’s my second tattoo. I chose him because he has a great story.
Back in the 1930’s, the Tootsie Roll Company began receiving letters containing Tootsie Pop wrappers requesting a free Tootsie Pop per wrapper. What each of these wrappers had in common was the Chief, printed in his entirety. The puzzling thing is the Tootsie Roll Company had no idea where this trend started! They never had any sort of promotion offering free pops. To this day, they still receive 150+ letters inquiring for a free Pop per week.
I love this guy!
that’s cool, and he’s cute.
My friend told me this story. I believed him but never sent them to anyone.
This is exactly what I heard in elementary school and I collected them for so long haha awesome
